If there’s one thing we all know, it’s that teenagers can be unpredictable – not to mention moody (sorry, it had to be said!). That’s why planning a Las Vegas birthday party for a teen or pre-teen can be intimidating. If you’re looking to orchestrate an event your kid and all his or her friends will enjoy (a feat in itself!), we’ve got some go-to tips for tickling even the most critical teenager in the crowd.
Keep the Food Coming.
Teens might all be different, but they have one thing in common: they love to eat! Growing kids can’t get enough, so they’ll enjoy any Las Vegas birthday party that features tons of food. Consider serving “party” food that goes a long way – like pizza, hot dogs, chips, cake, donuts and of course, soda. At Warehouse Wars, we’ve got the food covered, so you won’t have to worry about hungry mouths.
Make it Active.
Kids who get bored can be pretty mischievous. If you can succeed in keeping a group of teens and pre-teens active for a few hours, you’re a magician! Or maybe you took the party to Warehouse Wars. A few games of laser tag is the perfect way to break the ice, and keep the kids’ minds on the party (and their eyes on the target!).
A last-minute party is usually a failure. Not only may your kids’ friends not all be available, but you also might get stuck with a super lame venue. Start talking to your kid a month or two in advance so you can be sure you’re booking the right venue – and getting a good price. Bonus! You won’t be stressing about it later.
Ditch the Décor.
Spending hours on balloon arrangements might make you feel good (or just tired), but it likely won’t impress the teenage crowd. Save the time and money spent on décor and spend it on a great venue or awesome food. That’s all your kid and his/her friends care about anyway!
If you’re hosting both boys and girls, make sure you’re strategic about your location. Boy/girl parties can be awkward at first, so icebreakers are great – like a competitive game of laser tag! Be sure to pick activities and foods that appeal to both sexes – not just your kids’ favorites.
